Jennie Fletcher (Willey Village) I paint using a mix of oil and cold wax medium. My paintings are semi-abstract and is inspired the landscape, referring to its geological history, and how the land has been understood, and affected, by both time, weather and human presence. I link past with present – what was and what is. Building up layers of paint is important in my work: I scrape back and excavate the history I have laid down before developing the composition, which will change several times until I am happy with the final result. It is a lengthy process! I also make hand made beads, again using many layers of colours, and thread them into necklaces that have a sense of ‘age’ and of being found in ancient tombs and burial places.
